Represent the jewel of New Jersey with this Bergenline bus print! Extending from Union City through West New York, Guttenberg, and North Bergen, Bergenline Avenue is a main street like no other! Even the Avenue des Champs-Élysées pales in comparison. These dollar vans (they now cost more, inflation) are as much of a staple of Bline as a cuban sandwich.

Represent the jewel of New Jersey with this Bergenline t-shirt. Extending from Union City through West New York, Guttenberg, and North Bergen, Bergenline Avenue is a main street like no other! Even the Avenue des Champs-Élysées pales in comparison. Central to this design is the dollar van (jitney) which is as much a staple of BLine (as it’s known in the local vernacular) as the cuban sandwich.

Pre-ground coffee is for pansies. Get yer arms workin’ and embrace the GRIND! Or use an electric grinder, even if it’s not as cool. Grind fresh, that’s all that matter!

This piece was made to be a little more commercial than most of my Union City watercolor series of illustrations. In fact this is almost not Union City. It’s on the border with Weehawken, our more affluent neighboring town, famous for its old water tower, and Hamilton’s last duel.

Life is hard, even for Ma Squirrel. When’s the last time you had to worry about a flying animal swooping in out of nowhere, ensnaring you with its talons, and ripping you apart? Based on Sad Girls anime shirts.

Sometimes when you gotta go you gotta go. This scene is inspired by a real life experience, unfortunately (not me, someone I saw), and the color scheme and sky from a japanese ukiyo-e print.

Ma Squirrel’s kid enjoys rock climbing but still freaks out when taking a whipper. Squirrels can survive falls from unimaginable heights but this squirrel didn’t get the memo.

Who doesn’t like embroidered shirts featuring cute animals? Lacoste anyone? Ma Squirrel is named after a squirrel who came by my apartment window almost everyday during the pandemic. She had a few kids during this time so I named her “The Mom.” Here shortened to “Ma.” The kids grew fast and eventually left the nest (in our roof) but always knew her by her cut ear. It’s been months now since she’s come by. So this is my homage to her, wherever she is.
